Accuracy: The accuracy of individual grain age results is expressed in analytical errors of typically less than 3%.

Precision: Due to natural variability in reproducibility of individual grain ages, average sample ages have larger errors, although usually below 5-10%.

Age range: Low temperature thermochronology works best on samples which are expected to have cooled through the targeted temperature ranges during the upper Mesozoic and Cenozoic. Successful dating has been conducted on rocks of Jurassic up to Quaternary cooling ages. Older low temperature cooling events can be considered for dating if the samples have low U/Th contents.
