Description:

The project objective was to set a trend towards developing a unified approach in Europe to earthquake hazard, seismic vulnerability and risk evaluations and to earthquake scenarios exploiting collaborations between the European Association for Earthquake Engineering and the European Seismological Commission. The above stated objective was pursued through the creation of a Network of teams of scientists of different streams - seismologists, geologists, engineers, architects, etc. from the Eastern and Western Europe. The Network activities were encouraged the interactions between various disciplines and different countries, the exchange of information, technologies, the dissemination of results. Different approaches were tested in the area of Southern Italy, in the Potenza district, characterized by a medium seismicity with superficial events. The Network was to the activities of the Task Group~3 "Seismic Risk, Vulnerability and Earthquake Scenarios" of the EAEE and the ESC.
