The aim of the project is to develop and verify competitive methods of regeneration of activated carbon containing volatile organic compounds from the field of air purification, to develop and verify competitive methods of regeneration and reactivation of activated carbon containing low volatile organic compounds from water purification (or air). Overall, to gain knowledge for offering comprehensive services in the field of reuse of sorption materials from various operations, including water treatment, the services will include expert and demonstrable assessment of specific material, technical and economic evaluation of regeneration / reactivation options and process recommendations, including implementation. The process of regeneration of activated carbon (-50-100 kg) from a number of different real applications will be tested on experimental equipment. Another process that will be developed is the reactivation of activated carbon. The test equipment will be based on the existing equipment for microwave thermal desorption tests, which will first be suitably adapted for the given purpose. The process conditions will be chosen with regard to the type of coal and its condition, which will be investigated by advanced instrumental techniques. The result will be a well-founded decision / recommendation for the optimal procedure in order to minimize costs for the potential customer.
