The Laboratory of Inorganic Materials (LAM) is joint working place of the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague and the Institute of Rock Structure and Mechanics od the CAS (since 2012). The Laboratory is the successor of the Laboratory of Chemistry and Technology of Silicates of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and Institute of Chemical Technology, Prague, founded in 1961.
Laboratory activity evenly covers the area of education and both basic and applied research. In the pedagogical field is involved in the education of the bachelor study program Chemistry and Materials Technology, master's degree program Inorganic Non-metallic Materials and postgraduate program Chemistry and Technology of Inorganic Materials.
Main research activities are focused on the study of:
a) glass melting processes and their modelling
b) vitrification of nuclear waste
c) the development of new types of glass
d) materials for photonics and optoelectronics
