Conceptual model for uranium mineralization at the Rozna deposit

Conceptual model for uranium mineralization at the Rozna deposit

The purpose of this project was the reconstruction of sources, physical-chemical conditions for transport and the controls on accumulation of individual types of ore mineralization at the Rožná uranium deposit. The Rožná uranium deposit lies in the north-eastern part of the Moldanubian Zone of the Bohemian Massif and this deposit is the last mined uranium deposit in the Central Europe. Three major mineralization events were recognized in this deposit. Highly evolved hydrothermal alteration indicate an influx of oxidized basinal fluids to the Moldanubian metamorphic sequence. The wide range of salinities of fluid inclusions was interpreted as a result of the large-scale mixing of basinal brines with meteoritic water.
