Description:

This project deals with the synthesis and characterization of structure and properties of structurally modified clay minerals, usable as sorbents, catalysts, photofunction units and polymer-clay nanocomposites. Structure modification is based on the intercalation of mostly organic guest species and cointercalation of various guests, which may react and/or polymerize in the interlayer space in the "so called" interlayer nanoreactor. This interlayer reactor will be investigated in čase of photocalyticreaction resulting in the decomposition of organic polutants. Another way of structure modification investigated in this project is the surface grafting, i.e. the anchoring of the guest species in the clay surface. This is especially important in čase ofguest species, which from various reasons can not be intercalated in the interlayer space. The importance of surface and interlayer structure for certain photofunction will be invetsigated. Structure and properties characterization will be focused to...
